Palm Oil, Ivory Coast - Benefit to the community
DekelOil, following the social policies set by the Rasin Group, has undertaken to improve the standard of living of the farmers involved in the Ivory Coast green energy project, and consequently, of their communities as a whole.
DekelOil's actions, aimed at achieving this goal, include:
Creation of new jobs in the project areas: the permanent staff employed within the framework of the green energy project is estimated at 650 employees year round.
Establishment of a social fund, with a planned annual budget of US$ 0.5 million – US$ 1 million, which will benefit the farmers and their families. The fund will be used to assist in establishing a sound infrastructure for a medical insurance system for all project workers, as well as for the establishment of a pension fund for all project employees.
Assured buyer for all the farmers' palm oil fruit harvest, allowing farmers to fully benefit from all their crops and plan ahead.
Introduction of new, advanced cultivation methods and technologies, which will enhanced farming practices.
Replacement of low-yielding oil palms with higher-yielding ones, which will allow the farmers to produce larger crops.
Knowledge transfer and professional support, which will enhance the farmers' professionalism and help them reduce the costs associated with oil palm farming.
Increased income, resulting from the above.
Provision of educational services to the community.
